  • Title: “Navigating the Transition to Adulthood: A Case Study of TJ and Tee’s Struggle with Employment and Expectations”

    case study 500 words
Purpose: Students will synthesize their understandings of developmental theory and the current research base in order to propose solutions to problems presented in various case studies.
    Name—Identify one problem.
Reflect—Identify all of the stakeholders and their positions relative to the problem.
Act—Choose one solution to your proposed problem and make a case for your choice. Be sure to incorporate theory and research, from the articles, the chapters and the video clips, to support your identified solution to the problem.
Case Study: Thomas Sr. at 60 and Tom Jr. at 25
Thomas Sr. better known as “Tee” and son Tom Jr. or “TJ” both arrive home just before the usual dinner time of 7:00 pm. Each enters the home through the kitchen just off the garage. The home is filled with great smells. Tina, Tee’s wife of 30 years, is engaged in her daily routine, making the family its three square meals. The two each passed by mom with no more than a head nod. The talking coming from the living room is the familiar sound of Lester Holt, the nightly news broadcaster mom watches religiously. The volume on the television set is maxed out. Every word Lester speaks makes you feel like she is standing right next to you shouting in your ear. Unfortunately, the men of the family are used to it. Ever since mom turned 60 she listens to everything at full volume, though no one bothers to make a fuss.
TJ, the couple’s only child lives at home. Tom and Tina, once typical empty nesters looking for ways to fill the hollow spaces left by their son’s time at college and graduate school, find themselves arguing regularly over TJ’s future. However, Tom Jr. is far from concerned.
The family gathers around the kitchen table for dinner. Lester has signed off for the evening, so the TV is off. “So where have you applied TJ?” asks Tina with a mother’s love. TJ doesn’t answer. She asks him again. Simultaneously, Tee let’s out a sigh. The reason is obvious. Tina has been asking TJ the very same question for months. While she tries not to broach the topic of employment every day, it feels like she does. Unexpectedly, TJ gets up from the table, slams down his fork, and disappears through the very same door he entered earlier. He goes to his 6-year-old car, a high school graduation gift from his parents, stares at it for a moment, kicks the door with everything that he has got, and reaches for his stress relief medication.
What is the central issue here? What normative and non-normative life events shape the central issue? Be sure to consider the following issues and theoretical perspectives that have been explored to date:
    Erikson’s Psychosocial Development
    Arnett’s Emerging Adulthood
Andragogy-Adult Learning Levinson’s Theory of Life Structures

You need to make substantial changes to this paper. You have the discussions for the Literature Synthesis section switched. The result should be discussed as the DV (Dependent variable) and the content and intervention, access, acceptance should be discussed as the IV (Independent Variable). Review the content in each section and title appropriately. PDSA is not an implementation model for EBP per the authors, select a model from Chapter 14 and review the author’s explanations and see page 156 why PDSA is not considered an EBP implementation model by the authors. PDSA is used primarily for QI projects and is not generalizable. Attach Part B to the matrix as part of the paper. Therefore, the PDSA part of the paper needs to be changed. Please use the John Hopkins Evidence Based Practice Model in it’s place. The matrix should also be updated to include Part B (Narrative Summary) of the additional references.

    Instructions:
Select a podcast or posting from one of the sites above.  Suggestions for current issues are listed, but you may see something that interests you more.  Listen or read carefully and then post a maximum 500 word review of the session.  Your posting should describe the session and how it applies to current nursing practice.  Use your texts to investigate the issue.  What does current resources say about the issue?  What are some of the methods to address the issue?  Do you think the methods will work?  Why not?
Each student will start a new thread as their initial posting on each discussion.
Label your initial posting as follows:  Last Name: Title of thread.  For example:  Powell: Compassion, Kindness, and Civility in Medicine
The American Psychological Association (APA) formatting style is used for scientific communications and scholarly writings.  It is used extensively in nursing education.  APA style contains rules for text, citation, referencing, and reporting of data.
This link gives information on the use of APA
    https://www.scribbr.com/apa-examples/podcast/
    https://www.scribbr.com/category/apa-style/
You also have access to APA formatting rules in Microsoft Word (References>Citations & Bibliography).   APA formatting is required for discussion submissions. You will use it for all aspects of your submission (quotations, reference source citations, etc.).  References should be searchable and the evaluator must be able to locate the source to confirm the information.
Note:  You cannot just cite a source as a referencel  Use the sources you find to support or disprove the podcast or article.  You must include “in-text” citations so that the source can be identified as direct quotes and/or when the thoughts are not yours.  This explains how you used your sources.  For example:  Use of frequent handwashing has been shown to be the major cause of decreased infection rates (Powell, 2021).  OR   Powell (2021) has identified frequent handwashing as a major deterrent in hospital-acquired infections.
Only professional, peer-reviewed sources are appropriate for use in scholarly writing. Potential resources are textbooks, journals, presentations, etc.  and should be nursing oriented.  Use of patient-oriented material is not appropriate.
Once you have posted your initial thread…look at the postings of your peers.  You will need to post a response to 1 of your peers on a topic different from yours.  Your post should be inciteful and give additional information on their issue.  Why do you support or maybe not support their thoughts?  You need to cite for to support your post on this this as well!  The response post should not be more than 250 words.
