  • Exploring My Future Role in Human Services: Skills, Qualifications, and Career Goals

Prior to beginning work on this journal, read Chapter 1 in your text, Moffat’s Helping Those in Need: Human Service WorkersLinks to an external site., Neukreg’s The Holland Code of Members of the National Organization for Human Services: A Preliminary Study of Human Services ProfessionalsLinks to an external site., and HS-BCP CredentialLinks to an external site.. Your journal entry can be informally written in first person and should contain approximately 500 to 700 words. If you know precisely the position you hope to hold in the human services profession after finishing your degree, then this will be fairly simple. If you do not know what position you are going to seek after graduation, then focus on a population that interests you most at this current time (e.g., homeless individuals, military families, domestic violence victims, foster families, etc.) and the type of role you think that you would like to serve with that population (e.g., leadership or management, direct services with clients or case management, etc.).
    In your journal,
Conduct a search, and report what skills and qualifications are involved in this position.
Continue the search to identify the overall compensation, degree requirements, licensure requirements (if any), and any other helpful information that will guide your journaling on this position.
Do you plan to pursue the Human Services Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP) credential? How will this help you in your new position?
What excites you the most about this position? What concerns you?

  • Implementing Change in a Women’s Operating Room: A Comparison of Approaches

    Instructions:
Please respond to at least 2 of your peer’s posts.
Compare your peers’ responses about implementing change to yours; how are they different, how are they the same?
Respond to their ideas for addressing the problem situation to expand the conversation and give additional perspective on chaos or change theory for their situation.
    Ask for clarification if needed.
Present new references that support your opinions.
Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
    Discussion to respond to:
Describe a problem situation at your institution where a very small change later made a negative impact and how understanding Chaos Theory could have benefited your organization?
I could use tonight for an example. I work in a women’s operating room for a local hospital. To save some money our department decided that we only need one Rn and one scrub tech from 7pm – 11pm. As we all know babies will come when babies want to come. We had two add on cesarean sections called at the same time and one additional scheduled for 2230. There is no way one nurse and one tech can run two rooms at the same time. Fortunately, we had two CRNA’s and an anesthesiologist as well or else there is no way this would have even been possible. Had we had the correct staff, there would have been a lot less stress on the staff and the doctors. Had my institution known about chaos theory they would realize that we need at last two Rn’s and two techs at all times.
Choose Lewin’s Planned Change Theory or Kotter’s 8-Stage Planned Change Model and briefly describe how you would implement each step for planned change to better address the problem situation you described above.
For this I would choose Kotter’s 8-step plan for implementing change. Kotter’s approach is based on his observation that individuals and organizations typically resist change and miss some of the processes required for successful and sustainable transformation. I would use all 8 steps to convince my perioperative manager that we need the staff, especially at night. It will be a hard case, as all nights are not like this, but I think it will be worth the fight as it delays patients care and could be potentially fatal for mom and baby if there is a true emergency and the one Rn and one tech is already in a surgery.

  • Title: The Globalization of Key Lime Pie: A Culinary Journey from Domestication to Relocation and Expansion Diffusion in Florida, USA Where is located the center of domestication of the plants and animals (ingredients) included in a Key

Food is an indicator of cultural identity and change. In fact, many scholars consider food an expression of national/local identity. Considering the example of a traditional dish, in this case, Key Lime Pie (the official pie of Florida since 2006), answer the following question using key definitions related to this topic and included in the course textbook (Getis et al. 2017), including but not limited to cultural diffusion and its two major types: expansion diffusion and relocation diffusion (including the most relevant example of relocation diffusion: “The Columbian Exchange”), globalization, etc.:
Can Key Lime Pie (from Florida USA) be considered an expression of globalization?
Any geographically-based essay must answer three broad questions: Where? Why? (and how?), and, So what? (or, why is this important?).
For example, where is located the center of domestication of the plants and animals (ingredients) included in a Key Lime pie: wheat (crackers), lime (juice and zest), chicken (eggs), sugarcane (sugar), cattle (butter, whipping cream, condensed milk)? [map Centers of Plant and Animal Domestication (Getis et al. 2017).
Why (and how) were these ingredients introduced to the country where this dish was developed (Florida, USA)? [cultural diffusion and in its two major types: relocation and expansion diffusion.]
The “So what?” or, in other words, “why is this important?” question is an overview of the principle elements that can explain how this recipe was developed in this country and must include a conclusions paragraph of your analysis. Your answer should reflect knowledge of the topic applying the concepts learned in our course, and, most importantly, using your own words. Working in teams is not allowed. Explain your answer in NO less than 500 words and no more than 800 words. Essays that are less than 500 words in total will lose points. The word count does not include your name, PID, the title of your essay, Bibliography, or if you copy the question posed in your work. Your work must also include at-least a one-page image (picture) related to the examples provided, and a reference of the source where we can find this information, both in your essay (next to the picture) and in your bibliography page.

  • Title: Ethical Decision Making in Human Services: A Case Study Analysis

Human Services majors, please use the link above to submit your signature assignment.
Read the attached case and answer the questions at the end of the case. Also, remember to include the eight steps in making ethical decisions outlined in chapter one of your text.
Instead of a “traditional flow” APA paper, use the following subheadings to ensure you cover all parts of the case. See rubric guidelines. The only APA format will be the title page and all sources (both in-text citations and reference list).
    Title Page
Full Title of Paper  -This will be page 2. All pages should have a header and page numbers.
Start with an introduction paragraph. Give a brief overview of the case.
    Case Questions
Type your first question. -Then fully answer the question. Do this for all questions associated with your assigned case.  For example:
What Are the Primary Issues That Are Raised for You by the Scenario?
Answer the question from your perspective as the counselor, not the client. Remember to support all sections of your work.
After answering all questions assigned to your case include the following:
    Eight Steps
    1. Identify the problem – Then discuss how this step applies to the case. What is the identified ethical dilemma(s) in your assigned case?
Do this for each of the 8 steps, not just the first step.
Remember to cite all sources using APA 7.0 both in-text and in the references.
