Sharing, posting, or sending these instructions, the brochure, or the diagram I created is absolutely not allowed. I’ll share them with the world, but not quite yet. So please don’t do it before me.
Objectives
Recognize the importance of taking good notes Identify the main points of the chapters covered Reconstruct this information in your own words and explanation Summarize the reconstruction Self-assess your knowledge and performance in each Put-It-Together assignment.
Note: This assignment covers all the Module Objectives covered thus far in the first five modules (MO1.1-1.5, MO2.1-2.8, MO3.1-3.7, MO4.1-4.5, MO5.1-5.5)
Overview
Whether you plan to be in the medical field, academia, business, or another field, you must translate what you learn into information that will be transmitted to others. And most of the time, you will only have time to explain some things. That’s why the idea of this assignment is to build on that skill: communication. You might wonder why I didn’t open the assignment before. Science education shows us that we remember the information for longer (i.e., learn) when we: Space out our studying Rephrase concepts using our own words Explain topics to others. Chapters that need to be covered
The following are the chapters that need to be covered:
Chapter 4: Single-Gene Inheritance
Chapter 6: Matters of Sex
Chapter 8: Genetics of Behavior
Chapter 13: Chromosomes
Chapter 18: The Genetics of Identity
Time
You should plan 90-120 min to complete this Put-It-Together and the self-grading analysis. After all, this assignment replaces exams, and that’s the time devoted to exams in classes that require exams. However, you don’t need to complete it in one sitting. Creativity and connections sometimes happen when we step away from work for a bit.
Get Your Notes
Extracting information from the source is something you should always do. That’s taking notes. Now, we’re going to use those notes. Need to have them organized? Take the time to collect them before getting into action. Need a suggestion? Here are a few: https://www.csum.edu/university-advising/media/effective-note-taking-strategies.pdf
Get Into Action: The Hardcore Instructions
Step 1 – Select a question to answer per chapter.
For each chapter, select one of the questions below. It can be a different question for each chapter:
1. What didn’t you know that you now know?
2. What is your favorite concept of this chapter?
3. What was the most shocking topic of this chapter?
Step 2 – Answer the question.
Please answer the question as you would explain it to a friend or family. Don’t answer like, “My favorite topic is autosomal dominance.” Nope. That’s to guide your post. It should look like “Autosomal dominance is…”, “Autosomal dominance has…”, or “Have you ever wondered/thought why/what/how…” Therefore, you must explain the concept.
Option 1: 300-character limit of your explanation.
Option 2: Create a 100-character, very catchy title for the post’s front slide and a 700-character limit explanation for the post’s caption. It can’t miss the title or full points off!
Everything is a limitation of characters, including spaces!
And you can mix: some chapters with option 1, the others with option 2, or all option 1, or all option 2. It’s up to you.
Is ChatGPT or other AI allowed? Yes, but you need to include screenshots of your interaction with ChatGPT and a rationale. Step 3 – One document
One document for all answers. Please add a heading to identify the chapter. What to Submit
Submit through Canvas as *doc, *docx, or *txt.
With your permission, I’ll highlight your responses on social media. So, you’re genuinely explaining the concepts to an audience 😊
You will also be submitting your self-assigned grade.
Grading
Remember to assign yourself a grade!
Please remember that hard work doesn’t equal high performance or good grades. Your work should reflect that.
If there’s a discrepancy between your grade and mine, I’ll provide comments explaining why the grade differs. If you think you’re doing great in the real world, but the numbers and evaluations suggest otherwise, you should step up or explore alternatives. This assignment helps you gauge your actual performance and self-reflection skills.

“Mastering the Art of Objective Summary Writing”
First Assignment: A Summary
For your first assignment, you are going to do something that hardly anyone in the world knows how to do anymore: summarize what something is about BEFORE FORMULATING AN OPINION OR RESPONDING. In other words, to be OBJECTIVE and FACTUALLY STATE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS SAID rather than spout your own response or opinion. We now live in such a narcissistic-self-absorbed culture, people have forgotten that others have something valid to say and we should listen to them before judging them or spouting our own reaction.
Thus here we go:
Write a ½ page summary of the article in your course materials folder. Although the article is long, your summary, obviously is to be very short. When I wrote a 270-page dissertation for my Ph.D., I had to take that whole thing and summarize it in less than one page. Taking something really long and making it really short forces you to consolidate your thoughts, focus, and think clearly. These are valuable traits for anyone to have.
Do the best you can. I will allow you to revise it even up to three times if you so choose. I know this is a difficult task to begin the class with, but I have every confidence you will do your best to complete. I am a very flexible and understanding and easy teacher to work with AS LONG AS YOU TRY TO DO YOUR VERY BEST.
Any takers on that?
Here are a few pointers to get you started:
#1. A summary focuses on the big overall points, while still combining this with a few specific details.
#2. A summary is concise, well-written and to-the-point making sure to definitely get the MAIN IDEA OF THE TEXT.
#3. A good summary uses excellent grammar, excellent transitions and makes sense from beginning to end.
Your book is an excellent way to increase your understanding of summaries. Explore your books beyond the pages I have assigned if you want extra help with writing an effective summary.

COMPETENCIES
3078.1.1 : Designing Effective Organizations
The graduate explains how the structure of an organization impacts its effectiveness in the context of critical circumstances.
INTRODUCTION
Today’s business environment requires leaders to have competency in designing organizations to effectively achieve strategic goals. In this task, you will choose an organizational structure that will positively affect a consulting firm’s ability to effectively achieve goals and explain your choice in relation to the four factors that affect organizational design. You will also be asked to evaluate the impact of an organizational structure on one of the consulting firm’s goals.
SCENARIO
You have decided to create a consulting business to address increasing market needs for sustainability and innovation in the community. You want to emphasize how businesses can make incremental changes in the workplace to achieve sustainable results that increase profitability and brand reputation. The mission of the company is to “facilitate sustainable social, economic, and environmental development opportunities for the good of businesses in the community.” Your goals for this company include the following:
• Be a mission-driven, for-profit organization that will create partnerships that result in sustainable changes for the community.
• Achieve a level of success so your consulting firm can raise your city’s ranking in the “Most Sustainable and Innovative Communities” list from the top 20% of all U.S. communities to the top 10%.
• Assess the sustainability and innovation needs of 30 businesses in the local community in the first year. You will then share the results of those assessments with all business stakeholders to generate feedback that will be used to develop and implement proposals for consulting.
• Hire three university students as part-time interns to help you develop an organizational structure.
Before you design a business venture plan that includes its organizational design, you will identify how the business will generate revenue. You are interested in seeking investors in the business community who want to take a leadership role in the business and its decision-making.
You are excited about this opportunity and begin considering the organizational structure for your consulting business.
Note: Additional employees may be hired in the future.
REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. The similarity report that is provided when you submit your task can be used as a guide.
You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.
Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc., unless specified in the task requirements. All other submissions must be file types that are uploaded and submitted as attachments (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .ppt).

“Preventing Critical Fails in the Dental Lab: A Six-Step Problem Solving Approach to Ensuring Proper Use of Utility Gloves”
Class: Dental Hygiene Preclinical
Problem:
Today in the dental lab, I made a mistake of not wearing utility gloves when delivering my dental instruments to the sterilization room, which resulted in a critical fail. This was a violation of the OSHA regulations, which mandates the use of heavy duty utility gloves when handling contaminated instruments.
Utility gloves: reusable, heavy-duty, chemical- and puncture-resistant gloves for cleaning, sterilizing, and disinfecting treatment rooms and equipment. These are also helpful when handling contaminated instruments.
Please carefully read the instructions below.
Critical Fail Paper: The student must evaluate the situation and develop a plan to avoid the situation in the future using the Six-Step Problem Solving Method.
Six-Step Problem Solving Method:
Define the problem (-> I explained the problem above)
Gather relevant information (facts, values, assumptions).
Identify the issues (ethical, legal, social).
Identify and evaluate the alternatives that address the problem.
Describe how you will implement your new choice(s).
Evaluate the potential outcome(s) of your new choice(s) and the plan
to achieve the desired end.
The plan should be typed and no more than one page in length,
APA 7th citation format.
I have attached the Paper Guidelines below.
