Examining the Use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) Compared to Narcotics to Relieve Pain: A Literature Review and Synthesis
Examining the use of
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) compared to narcotics to relieve pain.
This
assignment will help you in developing your Bare Bones Research Proposal
further. You will use the evidence that you began identifying in your
Problem Identification and PICOT Assignment and build on it in this
assignment. In this paper, you are providing evidence/statistics that
support that your topic is a problem in clinical practice, establishing the
significance of the problem to nursing, and reviewing and synthesizing current
literature about your topic. Use the following headings to develop APA
headings for your paper. Include the following information in each
section.
Introduction: Begin with a broad introduction to the topic that grabs the
reader’s attention. Typically present broad statistical background on the
issue. Nearly every sentence should be referenced.
Problem Statement: Begin defining the problem
here—include more detailed statistics—specifically about the population you
plan to examine. What is the importance to the public? Nearly every
sentence should be referenced.
Significance of the study to nursing: (as obtained from the
literature). This must be referenced, not your opinion. The significance
section should provide information as to why it is important to fill in any
gaps in knowledge or why it is important to improve patient outcomes.
Describe
and summarize who will be able to use the knowledge your study provides and, if
applicable, how the results of your study might help make practice decisions,
improve policy, or change practice as a whole.
Literature review and synthesis: Review relevant literature
and write a literature synthesis on your identified problem with at least seven recent,
scholarly, research-based, and diverse articles (at least three of which come
from nursing journals). These articles should be scholarly or research based in
nature. Do not use web pages, newspapers, or non-refereed journals.
Do not use any .com references. You will describe the variables of your study
here. This section should be heavily referenced. Try to synthesize
your findings. Do not just summarize each of the articles
individually. You will identify your variables in this section. For
example:
Does
the utilization of music therapy in addition to oral pain medications impact
pain levels as compared to oral pain medications alone in orthopedic post
surgical patients on post-operative day one?
Your
dependent variable is post-operative pain levels and your independent variable
is music therapy. You would synthesize current literature on music
therapy and post operative pain (or even pain and the management of pain in
general).
·
Purpose: Identify the purpose of the study. You will write this as: The
purpose of the study is to…. Typical phrasing examples
include:
o
The purpose of the study
is to examine the effectiveness of X intervention on Y. X would be the
independent variable and Y would be the outcome or dependent variable.
o
The purpose of the study
is to identify whether a correlation exists between X and Y.
o
The purpose of the study
is to determine whether X has an influence on Y.
o
The purpose of the study
is to explore factors that (influence, describe, correlate, etc.) Y variable.
The
purpose statement also includes the target population.
Hypothesis
or Research Question/PICOT Question: Select which one is most
appropriate for your design and congruent with your purpose. You will choose
either a hypothesis or a research question, not both. These will be a
restatement of your purpose as either a hypothesis or a question.
After
receiving feedback on this assignment, you will be able to incorporate the
sections of this paper into your final Bare Bones Proposal assignment.

After viewing the video read the assigned project material, you must write a report to Mr. Harried covering the information requested below. For the report, you are using only the Spotify video and course materials.
Use the following center Bolded and left-justified Bolded headings and instructions to complete the project.
Introduction
Write an Introduction paragraph. The introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will describe the paper’s intent to the reader, explaining the main points covered in the paper. The introduction ensures the reader knows exactly what is being covered in the paper. The introduction is often written after the paper is completed. (Use in-text citations as required.)

Checklist
Specific Project Requirements
Proofread your paper. Ensure your topic heading matches those above.
Read and use the grading rubric while completing the report to ensure all requirements are met to lead to the highest possible grade.
Third-person writing is required. Third-person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first-person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second-person writing). If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.
Contractions are not used in business writing.
Paraphrase instead of quoting to show a greater understanding of the topics. Paraphrasing means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document. Put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document. Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks.
You are expected to use the provided weekly course materials to develop the analysis and support the reasoning. There should be a robust use of the course material. The material used from a source document must be cited and referenced. A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa. Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.
Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation.
You may not use books in completing this problem set unless they are part of the course material. Also, do not use a dictionary, Wikipedia or Investopedia, or similar sources.
Provide the page or paragraph number for in-text citation of quoted material. Since the eBook does not have page numbers, you must include the chapter title, section heading, and paragraph number.
For citations using a video, you must provide the minutes and second of the cited material. -

“Addressing Contemporary Social and Criminal Justice Issues: A Proposed Solution” The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health: A Comprehensive Analysis
Prior to beginning work on this assignment, reflect upon your journey here at University of Arizona Global Campus. Think about your entrance into our school, your previous educational and professional experiences, and review how your knowledge and opinions of social and criminal justice have changed over time. Refer back to your own notes, classwork, and feedback from professors to be ready to evaluate your program of study and share your ideas with classmates and your instructor for this class. The focus of the Capstone Paper is to propose a resolution to a contemporary social and criminal justice issue through the application of information from a variety of related fields, which may include sociology, law, psychology, and ethics. A good place to look for topic ideas is in your previous coursework, including coursework uploaded into your portfolio on Folio. Specifically, you may find topic ideas from issues you became aware of in courses such as CRJ301: Juvenile Justice, CRJ303: Corrections, CRJ306: Criminal Law and Procedure, and CRJ308: Psychology of Criminal Behavior. You may find your topic anywhere; however, your undergraduate coursework is an excellent resource to help you generate ideas.
In developing a proposed solution to a modern social and criminal justice issue, you are encouraged to use the Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources table to identify and devise a workable plan. A good way to approach this paper is to consider it a detailed and thorough scholarly piece on a single, yet important, social and criminal justice issue. That is, by the end of the paper, you will be an expert on what the current research says about your chosen topic.
In your paper,
Create a clear thesis statement that identifies your social and criminal justice issue.
Summarize your chosen social and criminal justice issue in approximately one to two pages.
Describe what makes this an issue.
Provide data to show how this issue has made an impact on society.
Explain which social justice principles need to be addressed and why.
Detail the cultural and diversity issues present in your chosen social and criminal justice problem.
Describe how addressing your chosen issue contributes to the goal of a more just society.
Analyze the empirical research on your chosen topic.
You may use your Week 1 Annotated Bibliography to complete this section of the paper. Please ensure that the instructor feedback is incorporated within this section. Incorporating peer feedback is optional.
Propose a possible resolution to your chosen social and criminal justice issue.
Evaluate which branches of the criminal justice system are impacted/involved and how they either help or hinder the issue.
Analyze how the criminal and social justice theories (in relation to the United States Constitution) and landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions impact your chosen issue and support your resolution.
Examine how the judiciary, corrections, and law enforcement systems address social equality, solidarity, human rights, and overall fairness for all and how these essential concepts impact your issue and resolution.
Evaluate how poverty, racism, religion and other sociocultural variables may apply to contemporary social and criminal justice by drawing information among the fields of, but not limited to, criminology, law, philosophy, psychology, science, and sociology.
