  • “Managing Caregiver Role Strain and Complications of Epilepsy: A Nursing Perspective”

Please respond to each post with a thought-provoking question and a reference to each post.
    POST 1 VICTORIA
As the caregiver of my patient with multiple sclerosis, I have developed the nursing diagnosis: Caregiver role strain as evidenced by the caregiver’s reports of feeling overwhelmed related to the client’s increased need for care.
My SMART outcome for the caregiver is:
The caregiver will identify one person or resource to assist with at least one aspect of the client’s care at the next visit in 1 week.
Multiple sclerosis also referred to as MS is chronic, progressive disease affecting the myelin sheath.  By damaging the myelin coating around nerves the impulses are interrupted causing impaired muscle and cognitive function.  (Althoff et al, 2023)  A client with MS can have difficulties with ADLs, walking, speech and memory loss causing the client to require extensive care.
Providing ongoing care for a loved one can cause stress on the caregiver.  This increased stress can negatively impact the caregiver’s mental and physical health.  The caregiver my experience a decrease in social activities and ignore their own health causing a decrease in quality of life.  As the health of the caregiver decreases so does the care that is provided. (Liu et al, 2020)
It is important to recognize caregiver role strain both for the health of the caregiver and the client.  Encouraging the caregiver to discuss feelings of being overwhelmed, social isolation and stress can help the caregiver feel as though they are not alone.  The nurse can not only help the caregiver identify role strain but assist in finding resources, developing a support network and developing a plan for self care. (Mayo, 2024)
    POST 2 STEVE
PES – Acute alterations in mental status as evidenced by decrease in consciousness and inappropriate response to stimuli.
A caregiver for a patient suffering from Epilepsy must be concerned with several complications as a result of the disorder. Epilepsy is a condition in which a patient has an acute onset of an altered level of consciousness that may also be accompanied by muscle twitching or jerking (Mayo Clinic, 2023). This sudden change can be very dangerous to the patient and will require the caregiver to pay close attention to their behavior. These patients are prone to falls, can cause car accidents, and are even at greater risk for drowning (Mayo Clinic, 2023). The caregiver must take precautions for patients with known seizures to prevent them from falling and causing additional trauma (Mayo Clinic, 2023). This may include assisting them when ambulating around, placing a tray table across them when sitting in a chair, and keeping the bed at the lowest level with the side rails raised. The patient can help control the frequency of seizures by identifying their triggers and also maintaining a proper medication regiment (Mayo Clinic, 2023).
A SMART outcome for this patient could be – The patient will demonstrate proper medication adherence by keeping a daily log for one month to be reviewed with their provider on the next office visit.

  • “The Impact of Slavery on Tennessee: From Petitions for Abolition to the Haitian Revolution and the TN Constitutional Convention”

I would like you to discuss how slavery shaped Tennessee in the antebellum period. Why might it be significant a petition was submitted to abolish slavery in Tennessee around 1800? How did the Haitian Revolution and ideas of Abolition impact the TN constitutional convention in 1834? What did you learn from looking at the North Nashville Heritage Project and slavery in TN?

  • “Evaluating the Use of Scientific Evidence in Meeting FRE 702 Criteria in Legal Testimony”

For this assignment, look back at the work you have done so far on your milestones. For each point where you used scientific evidence to validate and support a comment, argument, or decision you made, evaluate it to be sure it meets the criteria for FRE 702.
This milestone addresses Part VIII of the final project, as follows:
Analyze the extent to which the information you are providing the court meets FRE 702. In other words, how can the court be sure your testimony is based on sufficient facts or data and is derived from reliable principles or methods? Be sure to justify your claims with specific research.

  • “Adapting Writing for Different Audiences: An Analysis of a Written Work” “Reaching New Audiences: A Study of the Impact of Social Media on Stay-at-Home Parents and College Students”

For your project, you will create two versions of the same paper, an analysis of a written work. In the first version, you will explain the writer’s choices in relation to genre, audience, purpose, and subject. You will also write about the core idea of the text as well as the details that support it. To create this first version, revise the draft you wrote earlier in the course using the feedback you received from your instructor. Your instructor will evaluate this version based on your analysis of the text and on how you use evidence from the text to support it.
For the second version, you will adapt what you have written to a different audience and writing situation of your choice. This means making changes throughout your paper to adapt your writing style and conventions based on the needs of the audience and situation. Therefore, you will use the first version of your paper as the foundation for the second version. Your instructor will evaluate this version based on how you adapt your writing.
Use either the APA or MLA template linked in the What to Submit section to complete your project.
Specifically, you must address the following:
Part One: Analysis of a Written Work for a First Audience
In this section, you will analyze a written work and explain some of the writer’s choices. This is the first version of your paper. The audience for this version is the one you addressed in the draft you wrote in Module Five. This part of your project should be about 1 to 2 pages long.
Identify the topic of the text.
Explain the writer’s choices in relation to the genre of the text.
    Describe the writer’s purpose.
Explain the writer’s choices in relation to the audience, purpose, and/or subject of the text.
Determine the historical and/or cultural context of the text.
Articulate the core idea of the text.
Summarize details of the text that are relevant to the core idea.
Support your analysis of the core idea with evidence from the text.
Include at least one quote from the text.
Explain how this evidence supports the core idea.
Part Two: Analysis of a Written Work for a Second Audience
This is the second version of your paper. In this version, you will first choose and describe the new audience and writing situation. Then, you will revisit the first version of your paper and make changes to it to adapt your writing style and conventions.
Identify a new audience: Before you get started with your second version, choose a new audience and writing situation by addressing the following items in a few short paragraphs:
Identify an audience for the second version of your paper.
This audience must be different from the one you addressed in the first version of your paper.
Describe the needs of that audience.
Describe the needs of the writing situation for the second version of your paper.
Choose a writing situation different from the one you addressed in the first version of your paper. Then, describe the needs of that writing situation.
Second version of the paper: Now, revisit the analysis you wrote for the first version of your paper. Make changes to it based on the needs of the audience and writing situation you described in the previous section. This part of your project should be about 1 to 2 pages long. Specifically, do the following:
Adapt your writing style based on the needs of your audience.
Adapting your writing will require you to make a significant number of changes. While the core idea of your paper will remain the same, the style that you use to communicate it to your audience will be different. Additionally, the changes you make should be consistent throughout the paper.
Adapt your writing conventions based on the needs of the writing situation.
Adapting your writing will require you to make a significant number of changes. While the core idea of your paper will remain the same, the way that you communicate it to your audience will be different. Additionally, the changes you make should be consistent throughout the paper.

  • Improving Employee Experience and Engagement: A SWOT Analysis of Technical Tools for the Selection Phase of the Employee Life Cycle “Applying APA Style: A Guide to Proper Citation and Formatting”

Module Four explores how human resources can leverage new technologies to support the organization through all stages of the employee life cycle. When HR professionals design an employee life cycle plan, it is usually aligned with employee experience and engagement strategies.
For this assignment, you will consider the needs of employees as they navigate a specific stage of the employee life cycle. To do this, you will complete a SWOT analysis to evaluate technical tools HR could employ to improve employee experience and engagement during the employee selection phase of the employee life cycle.
A SWOT analysis is a valuable tool for identifying and evaluating the challenges and opportunities facing an organization, their tools, and their resources. Review the “What Is SWOT?” video in the Resources section of Module Four for more details, but as a refresher, a SWOT analysis consists of the following:
S—Strengths (What does the tool do well? What unique features does it have that an organization can use to improve their workforce practices?)
W—Weaknesses (Are there legal risks to using this tool? What capabilities is the system lacking?)
O—Opportunities (Does the tool improve employee engagement, hiring practices, etc.? Does the tool help with current workplace trends?)
T—Threats (What obstacles does the tool present? For example, does it require extensive training for use, or is it too complex for implementation?)
    Directions
Before you begin, download the Module Four Assignment SWOT Analysis Template provided in the What to Submit section.
Then, select two of the tools from the list below to review in a SWOT analysis.
Gender Decoder: This tool is a gender bias decoder that allows recruiters to post jobs that are free of words or phrases associated with masculine or feminine stereotypes. These words can unconsciously influence the jobs people apply for and create legal or ethical dilemmas resulting in bias. This tool is used during the recruitment phase of an employee’s life cycle.
Interview stream: This site offers a free, virtual specialized interview platform that simplifies the process for external candidates, internal employees, hiring managers, and recruitment teams. This tool is used during the interview phase of an employee’s life cycle.
TypingTest.com: This tool can be utilized to evaluate typing skills for administrative roles (e.g., receptionist, data entry administrators, administrative assistants, etc.). This tool is used during the interview and assessment phase of an employee’s life cycle.
SurveyMonkey: This survey is utilized to administer tests or assessments for candidates on pertinent subjects, or you can survey applicants about their interview experience. This tool is used during the interview and assessment phase of an employee’s life cycle.
After completing your SWOT analysis of the two tools, you will choose which tool you would recommend if your HR department could purchase only one of them. You will include your justification for the selected tool’s long-term benefits for the organization.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria in your analysis and recommendation:
Analyze the strengths of each tool: For example, consider ease of use, positive user experience, or the ability for self-service.
Analyze the weaknesses of each tool: For example, consider if the tool is too complex or unstable, or if there are data security issues.
Analyze the opportunities each tool can provide: For example, consider if the tool might decrease turnaround time or improve employee engagement.
Analyze the threats that each tool imposes: For example, consider the frequency of system updates or if there have been security breaches.
Recommend the tool that would provide the best long-term benefits for the organization and explain why.
    What to Submit
Your assignment must be submitted as the Microsoft Word template, which you must upload in the assignment area of Brightspace. Any sources used should be cited according to APA style.

    Description
The world of Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian world. A dystopia is a frightening, nightmarish, dysfunctional, violent society set in the future, ruled by a ruthless, brutal, corrupt, totalitarian government of privileged rich elites, who stress conformity and discourage and suppress accomplishment or competence by monitoring, technology, laws, and other means of control.
In this forum, I want you to respond to this in a full paragraph describing how you would feel if you lived in such a world. Also, are there any popular movies you know of that are set in such a world? What was your reaction to the movie? Can such a world happen to us?
Then respond to two of your classmates in at least three full sentences.

    Description
Remember, the purpose of the class is to teach you the rudiments of writing. In this discussion, I want you to respond to the short story/essay, “Love Is a Fallacy.” What does it teach us about love? About logic? After reviewing the fallacies used in the story, what fallacies can you spot in the speeches and commercials of politicians? If you quote a fallacy, if it’s in Latin, italicize it. Make your post and be sure and respond to at least two posts of your peers. There are several sites online that list the various fallacies. Take the fallacy quiz in this module.
