This week we are discussing translation of mRNA into proteins. Three of the most critical ingredients in this process are Transfer RNA, Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetases, and Ribosomes. Please select one of these to do some further reading on. They are all featured in the “Molecule of the Month” series published by David Goodsell on the Protein Data Bank webpage:
Option 1: Transfer RNA (https://pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/15)
Option 2: Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetases: (https://pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/16)
Option 3: Ribosome (https://pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/121)
Follow the link to your chosen topic. Read the article, and post something you learned that is not in the course material (20%). Then dig in one step further regarding the thing you learned, using an external reference, and post something NEW that you learned (50%). There are references at the bottom of each article if you want to use those. Be sure to cite your references correctly. Use APA citations

“Loneliness, Anxiety, and the Real vs. Ideal Self: A Lifespan Perspective”
Hi, I attached a guideline on how our professor would like the presentation, if you need any more information, please let me know. thank you. No need to add an intro and conclusion. Just a powerpoint for main topic.
TOPIC : Loneliness,
anxiety, real vs. ideal self through these stages of life: Children, Teens,
Adult, and elderly
TO BE INCLUDED IN ALL GROUP PRESENTATIONS:
The three domains of development and their subsequent influences on
and relationship to your specific topic
Use the lifespan approach, specifically Erik Erikson’s stages of
psychosocial development in order to explain your topic in terms of (at
least) 2 stages of the lifespan. For example, if you are finding research
on your topic mainly focuses on adolescent growth, you may want to choose
to use adolescence as one of the 2 stages you relate your topic to). You
may also choose to describe your topic across the lifespan, but must be
specific.
Impact of nature and nurture
·
Each group member should
present roughly 3-5 slides and cover around 6-8 minutes of content each. How do media, the internet, and technology affect these stages of
Loneliness, anxiety, real vs. ideal self

Today’s urban transportation planning process is being impacted by the President’s Stimulus Plan. High speed rail is one such option to congestion along the highways of urban areas. These projects have two sides to them. There are those who support high speed rail and those who do not support high speed rail. You have been chosen to not support the Stimulus Plan for use of high speed rail to ease congestion. Your task is to help decision makers make up their minds. So, you are now on the opposing side. Discuss how this Stimulus Plan for high speed rail will not work. You can use any reference. But, you must also present your opinion based on facts and data, not just because you don’t like it. You will have to provide evidence to back up what you believe is a bad idea. (25 points)
Most (97 percent) roads and streets in the United States are under the jurisdiction of State and local governments. The Federal jurisdiction is mainly limited to National Parks, National Forests, and other government-owned land. Discuss what issues and problems might be common between the Federal jurisdiction and the State and Local governments, and what issues and problems might be unique to the Federal government compared to the State and local governments. List the common and unique attributes and provide a brief explanation to support your choice. Use references in APA format and also offer your own opinion on what you think of these issues and problems. (25 points)
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) went into effect on January 1, 1994. This sweeping agreement is designed to open the borders separating Canada, Mexico, and the United States to the free exchange of goods and services. There are many pros and cons of NAFTA that have emerged since 1994. The future of NAFTA is in the wind these days. It may fail or succeed for the next ten years. You job is to help Congress and other decision makers to decide what course of action they should take regarding NAFTA’s future. You are to take the side that NAFTA is a bad business investment; you are to represent the “con” side of the argument. So, discuss why you would defeat or destroy NAFTA or morph it from its current state to some other new state. (25 points)
In early 1990s with a second wave of low-cost carriers (LCCs), which led to the second period of strong traffic growth from early 1993 through early 2000, Southwest Airlines arguably provided the blueprint for U.S. Between 2006 and 2009 a fuel crisis happened and a recession for business and the transportation industry. What is the impact today on LCC’s in order to be competitive in this economy coming on the heels of this recession? (25 points) -

Title: Understanding Cultural Bound Syndromes in Psychiatry: A Focus on Etiology, Signs and Symptoms, and Nursing Interventions
In the world of psychiatry, there a multitude of seemingly strange and odd phenomena that
occur across various regions of the world. Some may describe these psychiatric symptoms one
having demonic possessions, evil spirits, being cursed, and even as having spells casted upon
them. However, there is an etiology, pathology, signs and symptoms that present in the clinical
picture. This phenomenon is known as a cultural bound syndrome. There are several of them.
Some are mentions in your text and some are not. Cultural bound syndromes of notable mention
are amok, amurakh, bangungut, hsieh-ping, imu, jumping Frenchmen of Maine syndrome,
koro, latah, mal de pelea, myriachit, piblokto, susto, voodoo death, and windigo psychosis.
Purpose:
To provide important insights into cultural beliefs and practices related to illness and healing,
and can help to guide the development of culturally sensitive treatment approaches
Task:
Type a one to two paper discussing findings it pertains to the cultural bound syndromes.
Learning Objective (s):
Describe psychiatric disorders that may be associated with an increase of hostility and physical
aggression in clients.
Discuss appropriate nursing actions for clients with a cultural bound syndrome
Instructions:
Find a scholarly article, possibly taken from Google Scholar or other scholarly/government
(.gov) search engines to your supporting evidence. You may also use your text book as a
reference. Ensure to cite the article used. Type a one-page paper researching one of the cultural
bound sydromes mentioned above. Your paper should include the following information: The
country origin of the cultural bound syndrome, the signs and symptoms, is the syndrome gender
specific, treatment options, what does the DSM-5-TR mention about the cultural bound
syndrome? Provide a nursing diagnosis for your patient and interventions you would employ if

“The Importance of Research Design in Explaining Variation in Political Behavior: A Case Study” Evaluating the Effectiveness of Peacekeeping in Protecting Civilians during the DRC Civil War Introduction: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been embroiled in a civil war for over two decades, resulting in the deaths of
Research Paper Includes and broken into these sections:
Abstract
This is a one-paragraph summary of your entire paper. You should have a sentence about your question. Two about your theory, and two about your design and data. You can include the abstract on the title page, or include it on a stand-alone second page.
Introduction/Research Topic
500 Words Maximum
Identify your general research topic. Look on the last page of the syllabus for ideas about finding ideas. What makes for a good research topic? It should be important to you and you should be able to persuade others it is important. It should be a topic that can be addressed effectively using empirical methods (information, facts, and data should be available), and it should be a topic that others have written about.
What is your research question? You are proposing to predict and explain variation in what?
Why is this topic important? Why do we care to explain this? Are there public policy implications to what you are proposing to explain?
The Literature Review
500-1000 Words Maximum
How have people approached this topic? What have they learned about it? What theoretical explanations are offered in the literature?
Use appropriate databases and search strategies to identify at least 10 scholarly articles or books that are directly relevant to your topic. At least four must have a female lead author. At least seven must be written post-2005.
Theory and Hypotheses
500 Words Maximum
Now it is time to state your answer to the research question. You should develop at least one main hypothesis (based on your theoretical explanation), and a minimum of two alternative hypotheses that characterize competing explanations. For each hypothesis you should write a detailed explanation that clearly states your theoretical reasons to expect this hypothesis is true. Here you should draw on the literature review.
What are your hypotheses? Diagram them. What concepts/variables explain the variation in your dependent variable? What is the direction of the relationship? Present strong theory that clearly explains why you believe that each particular IV explains your DV. This is why we call them theoretically derived hypotheses. Has similar research (i.e., your lit review again) hypothesized and confirmed a similar relationship?
What is your unit of analysis? What is the logic behind choosing this unit of analysis rather than another?
Research Design/Data Gathering
1500 Words Maximum
How will you design your research and gather the information that will allow you to draw valid conclusions about your hypotheses? For each design choice, identify potential threats to reliability and validity and explain how your design will attempt to combat them in order to produce useful information.
Will you conduct an experiment? If so, describe the experimental procedures in enough detail that a freshman political science or geography major could do the experiment for you.
Will you conduct a survey? What are the survey questions and how will you collect a representative sample? Present your survey and methodology in enough detail that a classmate could do it for you.
Will you use existing data sets or archives? Where are they? What variables will you use? Justify your choices.
How do you propose to measure/operationalize your concepts/variables? There are potentially many ways to operationalize the same variable. Explain why the way you propose to measure your variables is better than the way it has already been done.
If using a survey instrument, do you propose to construct an index or scale? Give details on how you plan to construct and administer your survey. There are a lot of details to be addressed. Think of who, when, where, and how. Be sure to address questions such as validity and reliability. What are your study population, sample frame, and sample population? Once again, you need to provide enough detail that a classmate could do the survey for you.
Where might you find the data necessary to test your hypotheses? If you have a variable/measure that is similar to existing research, where did that researcher get these data? Are you proposing to use existing data sets or do you propose to gather all new data?
For this paper my theory/hypothesis is that Peacekeeping has not been effective at protecting civilians during the DRCs civil war.

“Analyzing the Cost of Housing in Melbourne: A Comparison of Resident and Investor Perspectives” “Analyzing Apartment Prices in Melbourne: A Hypothesis Test and Ethical Considerations”
Instructions Part 1.1 | Part 1.2 | Part 1.3 | Part 1.4 | Part 1.5 | Part 2 |
Residents of Melbourne are complaining about the high cost of housing within a 41-kilometer radius (about 25 miles) of the Central Business District, saying that even apartments are too expensive to purchase. Residents are pressuring city government leaders to address the need for affordable housing. At the same time, real-estate investors are downplaying the residents’ concerns, saying that in fact, housing is affordable in Melbourne, and the real-estate investors are encouraging city-government leaders to focus their efforts on other issues of concern. Both the residents and real-estate investors presented their findings on apartment prices before the city government leaders. Your job is to determine the validity of each of their findings and to report your findings in the form of your own letter to city government officials. The summary of the data that the residents of Melbourne collected can be found in the Resident – data document [DOWNLOAD]. The summary of the data that real-estate investors collected can be found in the Real Estate Investors – Data [DOWNLOAD].
Set Up Google Sheets and a Google Doc for Part 2
Copy the Google Sheet containing the Property Prices – Part 2 Data (opens in new window) (information from 4296 apartments) and the pre-labeled tabs in which you will perform pertinent computations for the second part of the assignment.
Rename your copy of the Google Sheet using your username, and share your copy of the spreadsheet with your professor.
Copy the Google Slides – Part 2 (opens in new window – select use template) to use as a template for presenting your work for Part 2 of the assignment.
Rename your copy of the Google Slides file using your username, and share your copy of the slides with your professor.
Generate a Random Sample from the Data Set
In TAB 4 of the Google Sheet – you will generate a simple random sample of 300 data values from the data set to be used for the remainder of this Final Assignment. Copy the original data set provided for you (TAB 1) and paste that entire data set into TAB 4. To do this, select inside the blank box in the top left corner of the spreadsheet. This will select all the cells. Then, right-select click to copy the data. Paste the data by selecting “Paste” in cell A1 in TAB 4.
In cell I1 of TAB 4 label the column Random_Number. In cell I2, use the function =RANDBETWEEN(0,1000000) to generate a random number between zero and a million. Copy this fuction down column I, so that every row (2 through 4297) has a random number. Copy all of the random numbers in column I and then use Paste values only (CTRL+Shift+V) in column I, which will keep the random numbers from changing. Freeze the first row containing all the labels. Sort the entire sheet in TAB 4 based on the random numbers generated in column I. Use the first 300 rows as your random sample (2 through 301). You must delete rows 302 through 4297.
Find and Interpret the 95% Interval for the Mean Apartment Price in Melbourne
Copy the PRICE column from your random sample of apartment prices and paste it in Column A of TAB 5. Note that pertinent statistics will automatically be calculated for you, including the 95% confidence interval.
As part of your presentation to city government officials (Google Slides – Part 2), state and interpret the 95% confidence interval for the mean apartment price in Melbourne. Additionally, make reference to any other statistics that you deem important in your own analysis of apartment prices. Review Chapter 8 of your text for reference on how to interpret the confidence interval. Make a recommendation to the city government leaders regarding the accuracy of the information that the residents provided in light of your confidence interval and data.
Conduct a One-Sample Hypothesis Test of the Mean Individual Apartment Price in Melbourne
According to the data that the real-estate investors collected, the mean individual apartment price within a 41-kilometer (about 25 miles) radius of the Central Business District of Melbourne is $453,993.94. You are going to use a hypothesis test to determine whether the true mean apartment price is higher than $453,993.94. Assume that apartment prices are normally distributed.
i. The null and alternative hypotheses are as follows:
H0: =$453,993.94
HA: >$453,993.94
Use your sample of n = 300 and your mean to conduct a hypothesis test using a 5% level of significance to determine if the mean apartment price is more than $453,993.94. Refer to example 9.16 from your text for additional guidance.
As part of your presentation to city government officials (Google Slides – Part 2), explain the results of the one-sample hypothesis test conducted based on your data, and determine whether or not to reject the null hypothesis. Additionally, make reference to any other statistics that you deem important in your own analysis of apartment prices. In light of your analysis, make a recommendation to the city government leaders regarding the accuracy of the information that the real-estate investors provided.
Conclusion
Write a meaningful conclusion that summarizes your findings regarding both the residents and real-estate investors and make your own recommendation to the city government officials about apartment prices within 41-kilometers of the Central Business District of Melbourne.
Ethical Considerations of Statistics
In your Google Slides – Part 2 presentation, reflect on the tension between the pressure to manipulate data to support an existing desired outcome and employing proper statistical techniques to determine an outcome that is in line with ethical statistical practices and a Christian worldview in the context of the provided scenario regarding real-estate investors and city residents. See the Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice (opens in new window). For context about a Christian worldview in regard to work and communication of information, review this link from Truth, Honesty and Deception in the Workplace: Overview opens in new window). Pay special attention in this article to the introduction, conclusion, Truthtelling in the Bible (opens in new window), Why Truthtelling is Important (opens in new window), and There May Be Exceptions to Truthtelling in the Workplace (opens in new window).
