BBA 329 LABOR
RELATIONS – MINI-TERM PAPER REQUIREMENTS
A term paper on a specific Labor Relations (Union-Employer Relations) Topic is REQUIRED for this course.
The paper is to be posted as a Word Document attachment in the
Term Paper Forum on Blackboard on Monday, June 24, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted.
The term paper is a research paper which
focuses on a “Labor Relations (Union-Employer Relations)”
topic. The term paper MUST NOT be treated as a
creative writing assignment. Your emphasis should be on facts,
information, and evidence that involve Labor Relations (Union-Employer
Relations).
The term paper MUST
include a brief summary (outline) of issues in your paper which
also pertains to the topic and concepts expressed in your textbook. (The outline is similar to an
executive summary, which should be located at the beginning of the term
paper.)
The term paper must be typewritten, and where appropriate, MUST
contain reference sources, endnotes and a bibliography. (References, bibliographies,
etc. are separate and do not count
toward your page requirements)
The term paper MUST be a minimum
of 3 full pages and a maximum of
4 pages in length, double
spaced
(multiple
spaces between lines will adversely affect the grade of your paper), and must
have 11-12” font (larger fonts will adversely affect your grade). Also,
headings must not take up substantial sections of the page.
Again, the reference / bibliography page is separate
and does not count as a part of the 3-4 page paper.
To successfully complete the assignment, conduct research on the
topic and report on your findings.
In so doing, include key points from your textbook. Do not use your textbook as your only
source of information. Provide an analysis of the subject matter
where necessary, make Labor Relations-related recommendations etc.
I am looking for your analysis of the research findings and am
interested in your demonstrating what you have learned rather than your
repeating information found on the internet. All paraphrases or quotations
must be accompanied by in-paragraph citations and a bibliography/reference
list. Quoted and paraphrased material are to be used sparingly. See
syllabus for guidelines on the use of quoted material. Avoid
“over-quoting” or excessive use of others’ material with quotation marks
around it. Use your own words!
All responses to the term projects requirements are to be written
thoroughly with complete sentences and appropriate English mechanics. Do not use bullet points, graphs,
charts or pictures! Express thoughts clearly in paragraph format.
Be descriptive and provide details and thorough explanations. Also, pay
attention to grammar, spelling, syntax, organization of ideas, etc.

“Brainstorming and Advocating for Change at CCC: Nearpod Reflection”
Mind: Zoom Class Session 1 of 3 (Asynchronous Alternative)
If you attended the Zoom class session and fully participated (which is tracked in the Nearpod assessment reports), you will receive full points. In that case, you do not need to do anything to complete this assignment.
For anyone who missed the Zoom class session, please see the directions for the alternative Zoom class session below.
As a “Mind” support for building our critical thinking skills through visible brainstorming that shows what is typically our invisible thoughts in our minds, we discussed how there is not a wrong way to show your brainstorming as long as someone else understands what you mean. In other words, if your brainstorming was just a drawing of red square and blue circle, that would take too much work to interpret. Your brainstorming, no matter what form you choose in the classes you take needs to clearly communicate what you have been thinking about. With that in mind, we reviewed and completed engagement checkpoints with the Nearpods below. For those of you who were absent, you need to complete all of the steps below.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on One’s Self. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming self-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on Community. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming community-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Organizer Research with a Web Organizer. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming research-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
In 3-5 sentences answer the following question. Given that we just learned about brainstorming and advocating for community change through writing, what is a change you would like to see at CCC?
Submission Guidelines: Submit a .docx or .pdf file in MLA format that answers all four steps above, and be sure to number each of the four steps. Therefore, your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on the self will be numbered 1. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on community will be numbered 2. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on research will be numbered 3. Your 3-5 sentence response about community change at CCC will be numbered 4. This assignment will be approximately 1 double-space page long. -

“The Unreliable Narrator in Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘Ligeia’” Slide 1: Introduction – Introduce the topic of the assignment and provide a brief overview of the story “Ligeia” by Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe’s “Ligeia” is the perfect example of an unreliable narrator. It poses the question: Is the story about a supernatural event or a psychological disturbance? There are so many possibilities as to what has actually happened with the character Ligeia herself since we know she has supposedly died and allowed the narrator to move onto Lady Rowena Trevanion of Tremaine; however, there is the conundrum that Ligeia has been spotted supposedly by Lady Rowena. This is reported to us by this narrator who may be completely and utterly mad (insane).
Ponder the above issue and then develop your answer and submit it with evidence in a Slide (PowerPoint) presentation. You will be expected to have multiple points and support from the text. Be sure to punctuate appropriately when quoting the story. Use MLA format to cite anything from other sources. A minimum of six (6) slides is expected. -
