“Ethical Dilemmas in Death and Dying: The Case of Terri Schiavo” Introduction The case of Terri Schiavo presents a complex ethical dilemma surrounding the issues of death and dying. Terri Schiavo suffered “Creating an APA-Style Reference List: A Guide for Proper Citation Formatting”
Case 2
Ethical Problems of Death and Dying
Michael Schiavo said he awoke early on the morning of February 25, 1990, to find his wife collapsed in the hallway of their home.” Terri Schiavo suffered from bulimia nervosa which, among other things, can result in heart failure due to the loss of vital minerals such as potassium. The purging activity of a bulimic robs the body not only of the calories contained in food but also the nutrition which our organs need to function. This appears to be what happened to Terri Schiavo–a loss of potassium caused heart failure which lead to brain damage. She opened her eyes a month after collapsing in 1990 but has never regained consciousness.
In July of 1990, Terri is brought to the home where her husband and parents live; after a few weeks, she is brought back to the rehabilitation center as her family was unable to care for her. In November of 1990, she was sent to California for an experimental procedure, the implanting of a thalamic stimulator into her brain. In 1994, she was transferred to a nursing home which, presumably, is when the rehabilitative treatments stopped. In 2000, she was transferred to a hospice facility.
Michael Schiavo was appointed Terri’s guardian in June, 1990. It was not until May of 1998 (more than 8 years after Terry became unconscious) that Michael petitioned the court to have her feeding tube removed stating that he believed he was carrying out Terri’s wishes. Terri’s parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and her sister, Suzanne Vitadamo, have vigorously contested the petition. On February 11, 2000, Judge Greer (the Florida trial judge in the case) found Terri Schiavo to be in a “persistent vegetative state” which is the finding necessary to under Florida law to allow for removal of a feeding tube.
From here, the case has been a long and sad tale that has seen Terri’s feeding tube removed by court order three times and reinserted by court order twice. The Florida Legislature and the U.S. Congress both passed special laws designed to intervene in this case. The Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, attempted to use the Florida law to personally intervene in the case and keep Terri alive but the law was declared unconstitutional. On March 26, 2005, the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit rejected the final appeal in the case to have the feeding tube reinserted.
This case is different than most right to die cases for three reasons: (a) Terri Schiavo left no written record of her wishes should she end up in a persistent vegetative state, (b) she is not terminally ill and only requires artificial means to be fed (i.e., her body is able to carry on all other functions), and (c) there is conflicting evidence regarding her degree of unconsciousness.
Do you believe the Michael Schiavo acted appropriately on behalf of Terry?

“Embracing Diversity, Cultural Awareness, and Globalization: The Key to Success in Managing a Global Workforce”
1 Please respond to the discussion post regarding the subject and pose questions
In managing a global workforce, the intersection of diversity, cultural awareness, and globalization is beneficial for maintaining unity within a workplace. Diversity involves every aspect of people and their differences, including race, gender, and age. Cultural Sensitivity entails recognizing and respecting such differences, particularly with regard to culture. On the other hand, globalization may be integrating global markets and cultures; this requires organizations to compete and operate internationally. Such elements intertwine in the workplace to form a complex that, if properly implemented, can result in improved innovation and creativity and, consequently, increased competitiveness.
I selected these areas of overlap because they capture the essence of today’s organizations and their interactions. For example, in a globally dispersed team with members from different countries, honoring cultural differences (Cultural Awareness) helps decrease conflict and increases team cooperation. Diversity helps to avoid stagnation – it results in different views and ways of solving problems. Globalization further increases the problem since organizations work under different legal requirements, cultures and market conditions. Cumulatively, these characteristics demand pluralistic management approaches that are diverse, flexible, and visionary.
The effects of these intersections at the workplace are felt in their entirety. Thus, a diverse staff is culturally sensitive and having a global perspective could bring more overall experience and view to the table, leading to better decision-making and problem-solving (Quick & Nelson, 2019). Furthermore, creating a culture that embraces diversity brings out more employee engagement and loyalty. Companies that are most effective at handling these intersections are typically more capable of deciphering global market signals and, thus are likely to perform better in the strategic competition. Therefore, incorporating diversity, cultural awareness, and globalization into the fundamental business model is an ethical imperative and a question of competitive advantage. -

“The Battle of the Beans: Exploring the Best and Worst Places for Coffee”
This essay will be over What is the best (or worst) place for coffee? OR
What is the best (or worst) fast food?(i’ll let you choose). I would MUCH RATHER prefer if you use general knowledge type info so you don’t have to include citations but if you end up needing to use outside sources then you MUST include the citations at the bottom. Please have essay in MLA format and double spaced with 700-800 words. Please do not use AI to create this or plagiarize it. Once I receive an essay back I will be putting it through specific AI detector and plagiarism checker sites and if I receive high negative feedback from them then I cannot use it. Also, do NOT use the word “you” or “!” or “;” anywhere in the essay and the title cannot be a question. I have already almost gotten caught with AI so this must be completely human. Please have a thesis with 3 points that goes along the lines of “I think…. BECAUSE… (3 reasons)” and have the next 3 paragraphs be about each specific reason. So only 5 paragraphs including the intro and conclusion. Thank you so much.
