In Chapter 7, deviance is defined as” behavior that violates the standards of conduct or expectations of a group or society”. As I included in my audio recordings, “the one characteristic shared by those who are widely regarded as deviant is a stigma – “the mark of social disgrace that set the deviant apart from those who consider themselves normal”.
