Title: A Day of Compassion: A Social Psychological Analysis
Paper length: 3-5 pages, Times New Roman 12-point font, double spaced
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Part I: Participate in the Day of Compassion
To complete this assignment, choose a day that will be your “Day of Compassion” and try your absolute best to live each minute of that day as compassionately as possible. In other words, for a full 24-hour period you should do your best to reduce suffering of others, help those in need, be considerate and respectful, and avoid causing harm to any living being.
When carrying out this assignment, leave no behavior unexamined – from watching TV to eating lunch to decisions about giving time or money to others (for example, have you ever considered visiting the cats at the animal shelter or taking a shelter dog for a walk?). That is, don’t limit yourself to simply holding the door open for a stranger or petting a lonely dog; think about all the unnecessary suffering in the world, and strive for the greatest impact and deepest level of compassion without being phony or insincere. It is up to you to define what compassion is and to decide how best to realize it.
If you are already quite compassionate, try being compassionate toward groups you don’t often focus on, and even if your actions don’t differ much from how you normally behave, carefully observe and analyze what transpires during the day. If outside events make it difficult for you to participate on the designated day, or if you feel dissatisfied with your performance of the assignment, feel free to repeat the exercise on a later day.
Note: To minimize any bias in social reactions, it is best if you do not tell others about the class assignment until after the Day of Compassion is over.
Part II: Write About Your Experience
Submit a social psychological analysis of what the day was like using at least 4 class topics, concepts or theories and references to class material. Please address the following questions:
How did you define compassion, and who were the recipients of your efforts?
If your behavior was different than normal, which person did you like more: the “Day of Compassion you” or the “normal you”? If you preferred the “Day of Compassion you,” what are the factors that prevent this “you” from coming out?
What are the social and psychological costs and benefits of behaving compassionately? In your refer, do the benefits outweigh the costs?
How did others respond to your compassion? Do you think they noticed a difference in your behavior? What attributions did people make for your behavior, and why?
How can social psychology be used to foster compassion? Which topics/concepts/ theories covered in class so far best relate to this exercise?
General requirements:
Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, 1″ margins, times new roman 12 pt font, and saved as .doc, .docx, .pdf.
Use APA format for citations and references

In “NCSA college recruiting”D1 is the division’s softball program to recruit the best athletes from countless high schools. Once an individual joins, they are given access to cutting edge facilities. The individual drastically gains nationwide recognition, complete repetitive drills that optimize each student’s athletic abilities and are given the ability in a very competitive enviroment . NCSA is the largest next college student athlete program, this is what they do. As given by a recruiter their job is to do one thing to offer a scholarship, also known as the NCSA experts. They recommend colleges that can meet an individual’s needs, maximize the student athletics abilities feature an ideal environment , this article is written for future athletes who are trying to find their ideal top tier softball program in college. This is why a variety of sources offer college softball scores to evaluate the competitiveness of each NCAA softball team. This indeed is to be able to examine important trends, top athletes, the outcome of each softball game and most importantly the attributes of certain teams. This is how the athletic programs go and review the best softball players. Athletic directors need to pay attention to the bye laws. Have a better idea of how much funds goes towards the college softball programs. I think that softball is just as capable of being enjoyed by the masses.Just as much as football is watched. The directors should take their own advice when it comes to the athletic hand book and show more compassion to the college softball athletes and give more full scholarships. This source would help me make this point because it could help future uprising softball players career.

In “college softball” academics is not the only thing becoming harder once you reach college, the quality of softball is greatly elevated as well. The fact of how hard a spot is earned given a spot on the field is only half the battle.Having a plan and locking in to it is key. Academics is the most important part, this is how players have to maintain a certain gpa average to be allowed to play college softball. This is how its done, as a softball player you will always be traveling for games no matter what which makes it harder to maintain school work. This is why its better to make the best of their study hall as for example while instead of sleeping on the way to the game make use to catch up on homework. This article is written for future upcoming college athletes who are trying to balance good grades and prioritizing softball to help maintain a scholarship. The athletes have to become responsible and disciplined, flexible in adapting to new situations and mentally tough enough to handle the good and the bad.The head director for the softball college programs. Need to dictate an order of what needs to be changed in what goes on and off the field for the players. The unwavering amount that each player is having to even maintain a scholarship. I think staying fully devoted to this game isn’t an easy task. Not only is it hard but the players should be given a certain type of luxury treatment once a week such as helping them prepare for the week prior, having someone wash their clothes, having special tutors, clean dorms and having a healthy diet. This can further improve the players not just academic wise but the board themselves would see a huge improvement in athletes.
My sourcesA League – and a Field – of their Own: ACLU Wins Equality for Girls’ Softball League in Oregon
In “ACLU Wins Equality for Girls” the American Civil Liberties Union today announced the settlement of a groundbreaking lawsuit that allows a girls community softball team to have equal access to city playing fields. This does provide for softball in the city main outdoor sports complex and enables the girls league to host at least two tournaments annually. The ACLU is known as the American Civil Liberties Union. They had a lawsuit charged that the city’s athletic policy violated the fourteenth amendment to the United States Constitution as well as a state constitutional guarantee of gender equality and the state public accommodations law. The crazy part about this, the city ended up settling and founded non discrimination. This article is written in regards that under the terms of the settlement, the city will improve the girls playing field and install new fencing to improve the seating, benches, and any and all quality. The goal is to enhance the girls softball program by upgrading any poor tools. The American Union itself needs to induce a different type of support. The impact of support that is needed in today’s society, how there should be gender equality. This is a problem that has been pointed out for years since mankind has appeared. There should be no difference as to why there can’t be as much done just like Union appear to see an opinion of their own. The part about this is how come the main board committee and the judge itself are all men. What is needed now is change, we should protest more than just dedicating a field, we should put up flyers, adjust billboards to female sports. Even conduct a special sports channel dedicated to women sports only
My sources
https://www.wvlt.tv/2023/09/22/parents-sue-oak-ridge-schools-claim-gender-discrimination/
In “Oak Ridge Schools, claim gender discrimination”This is a school in tennessee. As your average school players, there is always a parent that pays more attention and is more than often involved in their child’s sport or playing. As of September 21,2023 the parents of their minors daughters have filed a suit against defendants of Oak Ridge School District Board of Education claiming that the softball teams are not treated equally to the baseball teams. Oak Ridge Schools officials allow more funds to go to boys sports compared to the girls sports according to the suit, This is why parents have asked for the schools itself to acknowledge the unequal treatment in violation of Title IX and provide girls sports programs with equal treatment. This article is written based on gender roles that show more dominance in boy sports at Oak Ridge. The parents of softball team members also must purchase the necessary supplies, including uniforms. The lawsuit claims that the baseball program receives more and higher quality equipment including fielding screens and a ball cart. This should be one of the biggest lawsuits that shows a huge reason as to why there needs to be equal treatment between male and female sports. This should be taken beyond than the school board. Spread a message around the states how huge of a deal it is to discriminate against women. It Has been proven not once nor twice but several times that women are just not as good. I think allowing respect to be shown in the public and an apology announcement from the school that this should never happen again in history and if otherwise should be shut down immediately. -

Thesis – something along the lines:
Although prenatal testing (particularly for Down Syndrome) could benefit parents of lower socioeconomic backgrounds, it is often more accessible to middle/upper class parents as a form of family management.

Annotated Bibliography: Exploring Writing Practices in a Pre-Professional Field Title: Secondary Research Sources for Pre-Professional Club Writing Practices
Word Count
Annotated Bibliography: 1,600 words
Assignment Reflection: ~300 words
Total word count: 1,900 words
Context
The pre-professional student organization of which you are a member has recently tasked its members to prepare white papers investigating the role of specific skills within the profession. You have been asked to write a white paper investigating the status of writing in this field (which you will complete in Assignment #2). To complete your white paper, you will collect primary and secondary data on the writing and communication practices of your pre-professional field. In Assignment #1, you will begin the research process by locating 6 secondary sources on your research topic, and then writing an annotated bibliography about those sources.
Task
Pick a Specific Research Topic: Choose a field or profession about which you would like to learn more about, and then research the way in which this field uses writing.
Find Four (peer-reviewed) Scholarly Research Articles about Writing (or Communication) in this Field: I recommend that you begin by finding at least 6-7 articles, so that you may narrow down to the four you want to use by quality and not availability. Most of the articles should be current, meaning they are no more than 10 years old. If you’re not able to find enough sources, that usually means you need to broaden your search terms.
Find Two Popular Sources: In addition to the 4 scholarly articles, you will also need to find at least 2 popular sources, like credible newspapers, magazine, or website sources, that discuss the writing practices in this field. Textbooks or instructional websites about writing in a specific profession (e.g., legal writing) can be a great resource here.
Use Resources to Locate and Utilize Sources: In order to complete these tasks we’ll be reading about how to locate and utilized secondary sources (i.e., Booth et al. (2016) Chapters 5 and 6Links to an external site.). We are also fortunate to have a librarian come to our class to explain how to conduct searches at the UCD Library.
Write the Annotated Bibliography:
What is an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography contains a citation, summary, and critical analysis about each of your 6 sources.
Why do people write them? Writing an annotated bibliography helps you keep track of, read, understand, and think about the information presented in complex secondary sources.
How do I write one? For each of the 6 secondary sources you’ve chosen, you will provide:
An accurate APA citation of the source
A 250-word annotation that includes each of the following:
Evaluation of Credibility
Briefly evaluate the credibility of your source in no more than one sentence. Briefly research elements of the source (authors, publication, format, or purpose) to determine whether it is peer-reviewed and scholarly or a credible popular source (refer to Booth et al. (2016) to learn more about evaluating credible sources).
Summary of Source
Provide a fair and objective summary of each source in your own words. Unfortunately, this is where most occurrences of plagiarism take place in UWP courses. Be sure to accurately explain the most important parts of the source (e.g., What was the methodology of the study? What were the results? Why are the results significant?).
Evaluate and critique the source.
Critique your source with a focus on the context of Assignment #2. Why is the source significant to your research or your white paper? How does it discuss or explain how writing is used in this profession? How might the study contribute to a trend in the research on this topic? Explain how the source is like other sources on this same topic and/or how the source differs. How might this information influence how you conceptualize your work as preprofessional in this field? How might you use this source in your white paper? How might your audience respond to this type of evidence?
Audience
The audience for Assignment #2 is the members of your pre-professional student organization on campus. As such, you should select secondary research that will speak to the needs of this audience. However, the audience for Assignment #1 is primarily me, as your instructor.
Format
At the top of the page, include a few sentences describing your selected research topic.
Include your list of sources (in alphabetical order by first author’s last name) with a full APA annotation (described above).
Finally, write a short paragraph at the end of your sources explaining your developing thoughts on your topic. Now that you have read your sources, what kinds of ideas are you developing about the writing/communication practices in your selected field or profession? What topics might you want to discuss in your white paper assignment based on these ideas? What else would your audience of your pre-professional club be interested in hearing about.
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is for you to locate and analyze sources that will serve as the support to the arguments you will make in your white paper assignment. By selecting, assessing, and reflecting of credible sources, you will learn more about your topic and be better prepared to use these sources as evidence in the arguments you’ll be making about the writing practices in this field.
