  • “Implementing Theoretical Perspectives in a Troubled Police Department: A Comprehensive Approach to Addressing Crime and Morale in Anytown, U.S.A.”

    Instructions: This assignment should be
    approximately 6-7 double-spaced typewritten pages. A minimum of 1500
words (not counting the title page and references). Use one-inch margins
and 12-point Times New Roman type.
APA format will be observed for this assignment. This
means there is to be a title page, as well as a reference page. The assignment
should be submitted in Word format or PDF utilizing Turnitin. This assignment
is worth 30% of your grade. No late assignments will be accepted.
You are a newly assigned Police Chief in the City of
Anytown, U.S.A., which has approximately 120,000 residents. Unfortunately,
you have inherited a police department that was formerly under investigation by
the federal government for a major scandal. Six months ago, 8 police
officers were arrested and convicted for both falsifying police reports and
covering up citizen complaints involving excessive use of
force. Consequently, Gallup polls indicate that 68% of Anytown residents
do not trust police officers in their community.  Unemployment has risen
27% and violent crime (e.g., murder, assaults, robberies, etc.) has increased
22% from the previous year. Domestic violence has also experienced a sudden
increase, which may have caused the growing number of gang delinquency,
especially in areas of low socioeconomic status. Various quality-of-life issues
(e.g., graffiti, public consumption, disorderly conduct) continually rise as
your police officers are underpaid and overworked. Sadly, 4 of the 150 sworn
police officers have died by suicide this last year.  Overall, department
morale is at an all-time low.
As a result, you have been tasked by the Mayor to research three
    (3) significant theoretical perspectives covered during the semester in our
textbook readings.  The previous police chief (your predecessor) never
introduced any of these perspectives to the department, as academia has never played
a factor in addressing the systemic issues within Anytown PD.  The three
    (3) theoretical perspectives must be selected from the list below:
    1.
    Anomie/Strain
    Theory
    3.
    Deterrence Theory
    4.
    Rational Choice Theory
For EACH theoretical perspectives, you are REQUIRED
to provide an overview/description from the textbook (a minimum of six (6)
textbook citations required) AND assess their value in making a
policy change. Utilize scholarly materials (a minimum of six (6)
peer-reviewed journal articles required) that have empirically assessed the
theories selected particularly relating to their application in a policy or
program. ***It is strongly encouraged to use two (2) textbook citations
and two (2) journal articles for each theory discussed.
Based on extensive RESEARCH and your CRITICAL
THOUGHT, make a decision on whether or not to utilize these theoretical
perspectives in your department as a foundational tool to enhance your agency.
Lastly, provide a SUMMARY of ALL decisions
you’ve made. Clearly state YOUR overall objective as a leader of
police officers. Remember: your objective should be to reduce the number of
crimes in Anytown and increase morale within your police
    department.
***Be sure to not re-use previously submitted work. This
includes material from the textbook, unless re-phrased, or outside sources.
This is to be new work***
The textbook is classics of criminology: fourth edition.

  • “Developing a Segmentation, Communication, and Pricing Strategy for KPMG: A Comprehensive Marketing Plan”

I chose the company KPMG for my study.
    Introduction
In this assignment, you will first develop a segmentation plan for your product or service. Next, you will investigate the functions of different communication elements (advertising, trade shows, direct marketing, personal selling, and so on) and integrate them into the communication strategy that you will develop for your chosen firm. You will then review the nature of the competition in your chosen market segment(s); from this information, you will develop a pricing strategy for your chosen product or service.
This assignment is divided into three parts:
    Part I: Segmentation Strategy (3%)
    Part II: Communication Strategy (3%)
    Part III: Pricing Strategy (3%)
This assignment is marked out of 100 and is worth 9 per cent of your final grade in the course.
    Instructions
Write a 10- to 12-page, double-spaced report, styled in APA format, as follows:
    Part 1: Segmentation Strategy
Develop a segmentation plan for your product or service based on customer needs and desired benefits.
In segmenting the market, consider how you will identify the segment(s) that are likely to deliver the highest profit to your firm.
Select the segment(s) to which you will market your chosen product or service.
    Part II: Communication Strategy
Describe the different communication elements you will employ in your Communication strategy and discuss the reasons why you selected them.
Develop a detailed implementation strategy for each communication element that you selected.
Describe how you can integrate these communication elements effectively and how you will allocate your communication budget among these elements.
    Part III: Pricing Strategy
Briefly review the nature of competition in the market your chosen firm is in.
Develop a pricing strategy for each product line you will market.
    References
You must reference all ideas or findings that are not original to you. References must be provided for both paraphrasing and quoting. Paraphrasing is taking the ideas or findings of another writer or researcher and putting them into your own words. Like quotations, paraphrased ideas must be acknowledged; otherwise, you appear to be claiming that the idea is your own. Quoting is using the exact words of a writer.
This course uses American Psychological Association (APA) citation style; the TRU Library provides excellent guides on how to write APA citations and references.

  • “Uniting Our Community: Addressing and Solving Local Issues Through Research and Collaboration” “Taking Action: Joining Forces to Combat Environmental Injustice” Introduction: Environmental injustice is a pressing issue that affects communities all over the world. It is a result of systemic inequalities and discrimination, where marginalized communities bear the brunt of environmental degradation

Writing Task: Write an essay informing your reader of a specific community or local issue you are part of and then persuade them to align with your opinion. The issue you write about is up to you, and the community/issue you look at is up to you as well. However, the community/issue you explore must be something you are involved in/relates to you (think about school, home, neighborhood, work, etc.). You will explore the issue by looking at the cause(s) of the issue, the problem(s) associated with it and perhaps the benefits to it as well. You should also consider the possible solution(s) to the issue as it connects to you and your local community/issue.
Note: This assignment asks you to look locally at just about any issue you may be interested in. Even large, national issues have their place and impact within our personal communities, so don’t feel constrained by the need to choose something that is only happening here, but be sure you focus it on a local level.
Your essay needs to include at least six (6) outside sources, with an emphasis on local sources if possible (newspaper, magazine, interview, news broadcast, podcast, etc.). One source should be a form of Primary Research (a survey, interview, or literature review you do yourself). It will be very important to carefully analyze the situation and present it in an organized, well-documented essay that informs your reader of the issue and works towards persuading them that your solution is viable.  Be sure to be specific and detailed in your writing as it will help clarify the issue and make your position more poignant and powerful.
Final Draft: Due on Canvas, Friday, 3/29. Your draft should now have clear details, strong writing and sincere, deep, insightful analysis. Your sources should be connected, relevant and smart. Your paper should be written with the best language and grammar as possible and organized logically to appeal to the audience.
REMEMBER: We are moving beyond the Five Paragraph Essay because this is college level writing. The Five Paragraph Essay is too limiting in structure and in ability to develop content (analysis, synthesis, significance) and rhetoric (purpose, audience, tone & voice). You should be developing, thinking, analyzing and thus, writing more than you ever could/would for a Five Paragraph Essay. Also:
All drafts should be typed, double-spaced with 12-point font and 1 inch margins
see formatting guidelines in the Resources module on Canvas
I may not grade any essay less than 1100 words of writing for WP#2
Works Cited page does not count as one of the pages
Realize 1100 words is an absolute minimum, which is the minimum level of work required for me to take the time to grade it, not necessarily the minimum level of work needed to earn a passing grade
Don’t let a number be your purpose
    Point Value:
    20 points for prewriting activities
    40 points for Peer Review
    20 points for Reflective Writing
100 points for the Final Draft
    Important things to consider:
Your audience is comprised of fellow community members that are interested/concerned with this issue as well. However, you should keep in mind that these people may have opposing views that will make them resist your claims about causes and suggestions for solutions. You will need to convince them of your ideas through your presentation of research information from your sources.
You need to convince your reader that you are an expert on this issue through the credible research you include and to present the information in a manner that is clear, concise and that follows the rules of APA documentation. Your problem portion should relate this issue to the general reader and your solution portion should give the reader specific action(s) he/she can take in order to be part of the solution.
A clear purpose that addresses the issue, its major cause, and a solution that addresses the issue.
An appeal to the reader. This is where you prove that the issue affects them personally (usually either financially or by way of a shared environment).
A specific action for the reader to take that will get him/her directly involved in the solution. Remember to be clear in your instructions, providing relevant contact information, times/dates, language, etc.
    Other information to consider:
    Background history of the issue
    Those affected by the issue
    Those involved with problem/solution
Analysis of results if problem is/is not solved
    Definition of terms used
    Case studies
    Causes/Effects
Prior solutions tried and why they failed
Researched information NOT PERSONAL OPINION ONLY!!
A context for the issue (compare to other issues, times, cities, etc.)
!! this is an argumentative essay i think !!
(also please do not use very scolarly words or ver smart words if possible)
