“From Immigrant Roots to Academic Achievement: My Journey to UCLA” From Immigrant Roots to Academic Achievement: My Journey to UCLA

This is a personal statement to be considered for students on the waitlist for UCLA admission.
3500 characters total. I would be entering as a transfer student as an Economics major. I
have completed 2 years at Cuesta College maintaining an Honor Roll status and while
working 30 to 40  hours a week. I am the son of an immigrant (my father came from south
america). I will be the first person from my fathers side of the family to obtain a college degree. My father has a construction business and has worked very hard to build his company. I
have spent time helping him out with some of the accounting. I have learned the
importance of strong work ethics, discipline and persistence from my father.
