The paper needs to reflect on how Mobutu’s urban politics where a method to create an own identitu after the independence. The focus is on the factual representation of it through the public buildings that were made under his supervision. Some exampels: Palace of Nations; People’s Palace; Sozacom Building; Pergola Restaurant. In the most idealistic version, they are compered with there initial construction and use during the colonial period.
