This conservative response was evident in the federal government, the state government, and the people. Whomever holds power in society directly effects the turn in political movements. You must pick one of the three options (people, state, or the federal government). THIS IS AN ARGUMENTATIVE PAPER. Argue your choice AND include the counter-argument (the other two choices you did not include and why you did not pick them)
Things you may want to include: response to President Johnson’s Great Society, challenges to racial hierarchy, relaxation of social values, religion, counter-culture, just to name a few. Timeframe should be the Civil Rights movement (1960s) up to 1980.
Take a side and have a thesis that is has a clear with a concise argument
You MUST use your textbook as a secondary source. Chapter 29, section 2 “Conservative Ascendance” will help tremendously and should be used as your foundation for this paper.
You MUST use at least ONE primary source from your textbook.
Appropriate primary sources can be found at the end of both chapters 28 and 29.
Adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style. The manual is posted throughout CANVAS, and a physical copy can be found at the Tutorial Center.
This paper should be 4 pages, no more and no less. Your bibliography will start on a new page. Times New Roman, 12 size font, one-inch margins.
