WHAT: Write a short essay (minimum 5 pages, maximum 6 pages, double spaced) responding to the questions below, focusing on the readings for weeks 4 and 5 of the course (April 23 to May 6) in David Vine, The United States of War: chapters 6 to 10 (pp. 99 to 193). QUESTIONS: What are your main takeaways? What has most surprised you, and why? Following up on Vine’s Introduction and chapters 1-5, which you already read for Assignment 1, but focusing now on chapter 6-10, how does Vine continue to elaborate his argument in the book and answer the key questions he posed in his Introduction? What do you think? Is his argument persuasive, or not? How so, or how not?
You will need to read David Vine’s book: The United States at War, chapter 6 to 10 to complete this. Also add a few quotes from the book into the essay. The one source requirement is the David Vine book.
