In July of 1848, the first women’s rights convention was
held in the town of Seneca Falls, New York. Important leaders such as Elizabeth
Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott and Frederick Douglass were in attendance. a. Your
task in this project is to provide an overview of the background of the women’s
rights movement and how/why the Seneca Falls Convention came about. b. What
issues were raised and debated during the gathering? c. What declarations and
resolutions were formulated during the convention? d. Finally, what impact did
the convention have on the growth of the women’s rights movement in America?
